Festival Art Souterrain
After a discussion about her installation, artist Amélie Brisson-Darveau invites participants to step into a captivating play of shadows and light.
By manipulating objects and light sources, participants discover how a shape can transform, becoming intriguing, fascinating… or slightly unsettling. Through experimentation and movement, this immersive workshop explores what lies between the visible and the invisible.
Conceived as both a playful and sensory experience, this activity reflects the theme of Duality, at the heart of the Festival Art Souterrain 18th edition.
Biography
Amélie Brisson-Darveau’s artistic projects aim to offer an alternative experience to the “non-visible” elements of the social environment through the materialization and exploration of their tangibility. She approaches her multi-dimensional installations by experimenting with the texture and structure of textiles, which she links to other mediums such as ceramics, wood, and light.
Her work has been presented at numerous exhibitions and events in Canada, the United States and Europe, notably in Switzerland, England, Germany, Finland, Lithuania, Norway, Turkey and France. Her most recent projects were presented at the Fondation PHI pour l’art contemporain and on the screen mosaic at Place des Arts. She is also the recipient of grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the FQRSC and the emerging artist award at the Kaunas International Biennial.
