avec lumière ii (2025)

avec lumièrie is a video series using projections as a light source. In avec lumière ii, two screens are placed side by side. The video clips on the left are a mix of light on water and reflections on glass. On the right are results of using the video clips as a light source projected onto malleable reflective material. The intangible nature that makes light difficult to focus on with a camera lens, or even with our eyes, coupled with the effect it produces in the curves and folds of matter, make up a visual experiment that is close to painting with light, named Lumia by Thomas Wilfred (1889-1968). By amalgamating different analog and digital operations, the artist transforms the materialities of video and light to create hypnotic abstract paintings in which music adds a dream-like aspect.
Biography
processing_____________ is a visual art project inspired by Thomas Wilfred’s Lumia, featuring imagery of light reflected and refracted through glass & water. The resulting video art and photography is used for concert projections and short film animations. Drone, ambient and experimental music inspires the pace of each videoclip. The artist behind this project holds a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Concordia University, and was born in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal from Greek parents.
