Festival Art Souterrain
In collaboration with Eastern Bloc, discover an evening of teleperformances exploring the concept of ubiquity, the ability to be present in multiple places at once, made possible through telepresence technologies.
Three works in development offer distinct approaches to this idea. Geopresence, by Paloma Dawkins and Fili Gibbons, opens the evening with a media tapestry combining sound, real-time visuals, and embodied practices to shift our perception of territory. The collective Future Ancestors: Koko Mariano, Jielin Liu, and Najeeba Ahmed—presents Incantations, a multisensory experience connecting performers across continents, exploring non-Western perspectives on time and relationality.
The evening concludes with Telepæsants, a performance by Michal Seta and Dirk Stromberg, an electronic jam between Montreal and Singapore where distance and latency become creative material.
Presented as part of residency showings, these projects are grounded in a research approach to teleperformance as an emerging artistic practice, exploring the tensions between physical and digital presence, proximity and distance.
